“ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. ” (Psalm 1:1,2)

History
Celebrating 10 Years of Godly Service

World Deliverance Temple (WDT) began as International Deliverance Tabernacle at Benhan Hall in Southfield, MI on March 22, 1998 under the pastorate of Elder Roy D. Ferguson. The first service was remarkable as fifty people were fellowshipped in as members. Pastor Roy D. Ferguson was no novice in church dealings. He had amassed thirty-two years of experience at International Gospel Center. During his tenure there, Pastor Ferguson labored as a young minister and after appropriate seasoning was ordained as an Elder. That leadership position called for him to be responsible for the three thousand plus parishioners in terms of marriage counseling, visiting the sick, conducting marriage ceremonies and funeral services.

In June of 1999, WDT produced a live production recording entitled “The Genesis”. This musical CD featured The World Deliverance Inspirational Choir and friends such as LaShaun Pace and Esther Smith. Sales from this CD, along with generous contributions from the members enabled the church to purchase the building at the current location. In December of 1999, WDT moved to into the new building.

Pastor Ferguson had a vision of a beautiful sanctuary with upgrades to the exterior as well. After one short year, WDT began the million-dollar renovation project. Now completed, the state of the art facility now has an additional 10,000 square feet of space, a completely redesigned exterior, complete with a refurbished parking lot, sod, and irrigation system. The interior now has a new administrative wing and a day care facility. The sanctuary features new pews, carpeting, chandeliers and sound system. The facility was made complete with training classrooms and is fully computerized.

WDT holds an annual premiere banquet dinner that raises funds to donate to the building fund. The banquet is well attended and has many attendees from around the country.

Recently, WDT incorporated an early morning worship service in an effort to reach those in the community who have busy schedules, yet want to attend church. The service has been successful and has not decreased the attendance to the 11:00 a.m. service.

Currently WDT has five hundred members. The congregation is diverse. There is a blend of professionals and blue collar, African-American, Hispanic and Caucasian, young and old, male and female. The culture is friendly and outgoing and on one accord. Pastor Ferguson has accepted the call to become a Bishop and was formally ordained in April 2004. Bishop Ferguson has a five-year vision of the ministry that includes attracting one thousand members, a senior citizen apartment complex and a 24-hour crisis hotline staffed by trained professionals.
